The Monkees Present was the Monkees' eighth studio album, released by Colgems Records in October 1969 as COS-117. By this time Peter Tork had left the group, and this would be the last studio album with participation from Michael Nesmith until the 1996 reunion album Justus.
Originally intended as a double album devoting a side showcasing the individual talents of each of the Monkees, it was shortened to a single record heavily favoring selections composed by band members—three each from Dolenz and Nesmith, and one from Davy Jones. The album features the band's Nesmith-penned tenth single "Listen to the Band" along with both sides of its eleventh, Nesmith's "Good Clean Fun" and "Mommy and Daddy", written by Micky Dolenz. Two Tommy Boyce / Bobby Hart tracks from 1966 were unearthed for the album, "Looking for the Good Times" and "Ladies Aid Society".
